B:CIVIC Member Spotlight: Great-West Financial
Great-West Financial Receives Go Red for Women Impact Award
B:CIVIC members do great things for the community every day, and we love seeing them earn well-deserved attention. Founding Member Great-West Financial was recently honored with the American Heart Association’s annual Go Red for Women Impact Award, which recognizes a local organization and individual for their efforts within the community to make an impact on heart disease and stroke, the number 1 and number 4 causes of death in America. Each recipient chosen is very engaged and dedicated to the programs, committees or leadership roles with the American Heart Association.
Creating healthier communities starts with our children.
Great-West Financial sponsored The American Heart Association’s Teaching Gardens program, which provides real-life learning laboratories for elementary school students to understand what it means to be healthy. This hands-on experience allows students to learn how to plant seeds, nurture growing plants, harvest produce and ultimately understand the value of good eating habits.
Teaching Gardens encompass a core belief that when you educate a child about nutritional choices, he or she will share this information with the family, and ultimately pass that knowledge to others.
