First Western Connects Day
In October of 2014, Founding Board Member First Western Trust hosted its first annual volunteer day called FW Connects. In an effort to provide the most benefit on the day of service, First Western conducted a materiality assessment to identify the areas of focus that shareholders, associates, clients and members of the community felt were not only important to the business, but also key issues in the communities where they are located. The areas selected were economic development, support of the arts, and women and girls.
After conducting the assessment, 10 First Western teams partnered with various organizations within these impact areas on FW Connects. First Western was able to provide 100 volunteers across 3 markets and donated more than $35,000 to their partner organizations.
Some of the organizations that First Western partnered with were Ground Work Denver, Warren Village, and the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless. First Western looks forward to continuing this practice each year and making an impact in the communities they serve.
