Janus Foundation Picks Winners for $215,000 J Tank Initiative

You’ve heard of Shark Tank, the TV show about entrepreneurs competing for investment capital, but what about
J Tank? Well, it’s the brainchild of the Janus Foundation, and happens here in Denver, involving Janus Capital Group Inc employees and others in the community.JANUS_ Camp Boggy Creek 1st winner_ DSC_0602

The Janus Foundation will channel $215,000 to the more than seven winning non-profit organizations whose reach is both local and global. Winners of the J Tank competition, all nonprofit organizations, were nominated by Janus Capital Group employees.The winning non-profit, Camp Boggy Creek, will receive a $75,000 donation, and the first and second runners-up, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver and Operation Underground Railroad, will receive $40,000 and $25,000, respectively. This was the second annual J Tank challenge, and more than 450 employees voted in the competition. Employees submitted 28 proposals considered for the finalist round, where seven finalists made their case to a panel of judges as to why their non-profit should win the top prize.

The winning submissions were judged by Tiphani Krueger, President of the Janus Foundation and Executive Vice President, Human Resources, at Janus Capital Group (pictured below left, middle person) and her five fellow judges. Other judges included B:CIVIC member Bruce DeBoskey, owner of The DeBoskey Group (pictured next below, he is third from right), former Denver Broncos player and President of Corporate Kickoff Reggie Rivers( pictured to the right, he is third on the right); Jessica Oh, Anchor at Denver’s NBC affiliate 9 News ( bottom row, left picture on the left); Amelia Earhart, Reporter at Denver’s NBC affiliate 9 News (below, bottom row, middle picture, left), and David Edinger, City and County of Denver.
